Skuid

I’d love it if I could set conditions for a field editor’s “Default Mode” property, such as based on the values of fields in my models. This would allow sections of my page to be read-only if the “Status” field is “Approved”, or if the current user is of a certain role/profile.

skuid has let me create a very complex report the process has 3 steps first the user selects a therapist and a date range and an aggregate model is used to add up the number of times each client has had an encounter on the second tab the user again selects a therapist and a date range and a model is used to gather demographic data about the client there is a button on that tab that runs a javascript snippet that uses both the model from the first tab and the model from this tab to update 2 fields, one is a checkbox that is checked for the last encounter for each client, the other is a flag that tells whether this encounter is a “return” encounter for the client (ie, the client had more than one encounter in the time period) The last step is to apply a filter that removes all the encounter records that are not checked in step 2, leaving only one encounter record per client the user then exports the model to excel, which is the format that is required for the report of course, all thi

When a table renders wider than the browser window, setting fixed widths (“70px”) for columns is overridden, and the column data & header scrolls automatically in HTML-determined places that I often don’t want it to. I’d like the ability to force a column to be a certain width (or at least a minimum width) even if it is wider than the user’s current browser window. For instance, in the case below, I’d want to force the columns to be always x pixels wide, because I know the exact max width of the data, and in some cases the width is static.

It would be nice to be able to add some short notes to things like model & rendering conditions. I would add things like “Leave this condition as the ID instead of the name in order to make new records default properly” or “added per JK 2/24/14”. Perhaps this would be useful in other places too?

This is something that is definitely needed. We purchased Skuid so we could migrate from our existing edit grid, which was clunky for other reason; however, it’s a huge loss in functionality for use to not be able to multi select filters. Another thing that’s really needed for us is to be able to “Apply Filters”. We have several filters and for us to have to wait through applying each filter to be able to select the next one is also a bit clunky. Perhaps I need to create a new Idea for that one! I’m adding a view of how our current option to multi-select looks. Note: This topic was created from a reply on the Multi-select Filters on Tables topic.

I have a calendar month view of a custom object. On it there will be a display of a few records per day, essentially representing classes taught by a few teachers. (I just want an all-day event view, not an hourly one, as I don’t have/need the times, just dates.) I’d love to be able to color-code each entry such that all classes taught by teacher1 are blue, the ones by teacher2 are red, etc. Essentially group the model by a field and choose/assign a color for that group. That way when you see them on a calendar it is easy to glance at it and see which are there, which are missing, and quickly find the right ones.

I am using a Calendar with multiple event sources. On the Month view the event sources stay grouped and are sorted correctly but the groups don’t intermingle. For instance if I have a medical appointment at 8am 10am and 3pm, and I have a meeting at 9am 11am and 4pm the medical appointments are 8am 10am and 3pm followed by the meetings at 9am 11am and 4pm. On the week view they are shown intermixed correctly but the month view keeps them segregated. I did sort them based on the StartDateTime field. Is there a way to make them intermixed in the correct order based on Start date and time 8am 9am 10am 11am 3pm and 4pm? Thank you!

It seems a small thing, but the way Skuid tables do pagination of data and mass updates is very neatly designed. We’ve just pumped a decent chunk of sample data into our Skuid app and there’s simply no degradation in functionality and performance at all, which is very reassuring. One suggestion: a big selling point is the ease with which tables can do mass updates (far more flexibly than Salesforce enhanced lists), but the page is limited to 50 records. Would you consider making this bigger? Our use case is to have a one special “mass update” page in the app where a super user could make mass updates to large numbers of records easily. Arguably the user doesn’t necessarily need to return thousands of records to the page, but they need to be able to somehow select all records that meet filter criteria and perform an update on them all (not just those that are visible). Hope that makes sense.

I just downloaded 3.21 and I love the new conditional rendering feature! It’s going to really help our organization out and we’ll be using it a lot. Not to sound ungrateful or anything, but it would be really cool if tabs in a tab set could be conditionally rendered as well…

I would love the ability to be able to cycle through records when I’m editing a single record’s detail within a popup row action. Something like this perhaps:

I have a couple of fields that should not be required based on data in the rest of the record. I’d rather not mark them as not required and build a validation rule on the back end. We are using these pages in our community and validation rules are often seen as a gotcha by users who can’t see that it is required until they go to save. Ideas?

We’ve had an issue that our redirects that work in our SF environment break when we take them to the community because we have more than one community and the community name is appended to the URL. So now we’ve added that community name to our redirects but the won’t work when previewing in straight SF. I am wondering if this could be managed by a custom setting that lets us specify what should be included in the root of the URL?

Hello all, Yesterday we did our first test migrating skuid pages from one environment to another. It is an incredibly easy process, and very well behaved. There were a few fields we had forgotten to move. When we went the Skuid page, it gave us a clear warning flag and a clear explanation of what was missing. We loaded the fields and the error message went away as simple as that.

I find myself often wanting to Mass Update fields that are not in a Skuid table, which, moreover, should not be in that table, because I rarely need to see or view them. Since I’m generally a Skuid Admin in the org, I’ll jump into the Page Builder, add that field to the table, go back and Mass Update the field, save, then go take the field out of the Page Builder. A rather round-about way of achieving what could be an additional feature of Mass Update… the ability to, at run-time, choose to Mass Update fields that are not in the Table! The user could dynamically pick from a list of all fields that they have Edit / Create permissions on that are in the Model, and then Skuid would present an appropriate input box for that display type, just as it does normally. You could then click to add another field that’s not already there, allowing you, really, to mass update lots of fields that are not in your table. Later, we could allow the user to even pick fields that are not in the Model. The

I shared this idea here a few months ago. An invigorating lunch date with Peter Bender inspired me to get it done. There are three steps. First, clone the skuid page “pagelist” under a different name. Remove all the fields but the page name. Next, clone the skuid page “pagebuilder”, under the same name, so that in future skuid will open the clone when it wants the page builder (if the page builder page is updated in future releases of skuid, you’ll have to remake the clone). Add a panel set. In the panel set use the include page component to include the menu you just made. Now when you open the editor on a skuid page, you will have a list of all your pages in the left menu. Click on a page name and the page builder will go to that page. next steps 1) add the CSS or Javascript to make the left menu accordian in and out, so you can minimize it when you want and slide it open when you need it. 2) add all your skuid pages to modules, so if you have a lot of pages you can use a module fil

Comparing the “Accounts” page in the nonprofit starter pack with my SKUID version. First the standard version. Then the SKUID version Click on each image to see my comments (in red.) Each page style has its strengths. The Salesforce version is more of a menu than a page. You can see a list of accounts… and also all the related actions you might take around accounts. And the “quick create” form is explicit, rather than implicit like SKUID’s “new” button. On the other hand, to actually enter or edit an account, you have to go to the account detail page and then come back. The SKUID version lets you actually work with accounts in the list. It has only the filters that its user’s need (assuming you added the filters you wanted). It’s interesting to me how different the “feel” and “style” of the two pages turns out to be. So, one of my favorite Skuid tricks of late gives you a way to find all Skuid Pages where you’ve used a certain Field, Component, Model, Object, etc. — and it’s super-easy! Up in the Global Search box at the top of your Salesforce header, enter the name of the Field, Object, Model, Component, or any other text you’ve used anywhere in ANY Skuid Page, i.e. enter AccountId — for finding all Pages which include a reference to a field called AccountId MyCustomField__c — for finding references to a field called MyCustomField__c Opportunity — for finding all references to the Opportunity object MyCustomObject__c — for finding all references to a custom object called MyCustomObject__c OpportunityAggregateModel — for finding all references to a model of this name or, for those of you familiar with the Skuid XML, you can get even more specific, and narrow down to specific XML phrases, e.g. field id=“AccountId”

When linking to child records in a table display… sometimes there is more than one record that gets pulled in. SKUID makes provision to enter a delimiter… but it also allows html in the display template. I found that putting LI around my display gives me a nice psuedo list in my table

I often save snippets of code… for one reason or the other rather than keeping them in a folder somewhere i spent 5 minutes and made a skuid snippet keeper it even comes with a search feature !!

For small subforms there doesn’t seem to be a need to show the table footer. I did it will a little CSS but you might consider it as a checkbox option. It would have to mean that the table would show all its rows… regardless of how many. You can see here the phone subform has no footer.

Had an idea this morning while “finishing” up my first SKUID app. Popup forms can be used for page level “help”. Works great.

On Friday someone posted the forum topic number 600 on the Skuid Community.  It might not seem to be a signficant thing,  but we want to celebrate the fact!  It shows how active this community is,  how helpful all members are, how engaged the whole group is in helping to use Skuid to make Salesforce.com a better place.  Thanks a lot to all of you!

You can see here I’m using a template component to add a html comment to my page. I need to add quite a bit of documentation to finish up this application… and I prefer to add it directly into the code… or in this case, into the page designer. This works, but I really don’t need to see my comments in the rendered page… only in the designer. Could you add a “comments” field to all controls that would appear in the design pane and be stored in the page xml ?
